Thermal Oxidation

Tristan uses a custom “burn-out” oven to incinerate all organic, non-precious material, leaving behind a semi-fine ash and other solids.

Ball Mill

The remaining precious metal material is ball milled into a fine, crushed powder.

Sifting

The fine powder is sifted using 7 different mesh sizes. During this process, non-ferrous metals remaining in the prepared sweeps are screened out and the magnetic oversize is removed.

Smelting

The non-ferrous metallics are smelted into a cone with a pin-core (sample) taken.

Analysis

The pin-core undergoes our fire assay process to determine metal purity. This is where most refiners stop. Tristan goes one important step further.

Chemical Process

At our state-of-the-art laboratory, the prepared sweeps are treated with a series of acids to make 99.99% pure metal. The final step includes adding sodium metabisulfite to precipitate the gold.

Once your diamonds or other gemstones are separated, we ensure that each one is sent back to you along with your assay report and maximum metal payout.
